What is the basement finishing process?First we come in for a free in home estimate to discuss you plans and design. Then we provide you with a quick and descriptive estimate about the project, within a matter of days. After that, we finalize any final details and sign a copy of the scope of work before the project is started for both parties. We begin by obtaining building permits through the local municipality, informing them of the project. After building permits are obtained we then process all of the trades permits for the work that will be completed. This will include HVAC permit, Plumbing permit, and Electrical permit. While this paperwork is processed we will begin by designing and installing the layout for the HVAC. The HVAC is for the Heating, Cooling, and Ductwork that will be controlling the airflow throughout the area. Once that is completed we will begin with the framing out of the basement area by applying either 2x4 or 2x6 studs along the specified design areas. This will create any bedrooms, bathrooms, or other living areas. Once framing is complete the real fun starts to begin. Usually most basements have concrete floors and will need to have plumbing installed. With this being the case we'll start to break open the concrete floor in order to install the necessary plumbing lines for the new water areas. Along with installing the plumbing, electrical systems will also be placed throughout the area. This will include install a sub panel, if necessary, additional outlets, switches, recessed lights, and much more. After the past few steps are finished, then we will request an inspection from the local inspector's. Where they will come out to the residence to check and make sure all work is up to code, or if there are any corrections that need to be made. We look forward to this step because this allows us to double check our work, and have a level of quality control to ensure we are providing the top level of service for our client. Once we have passed inspections, then we are heading downhill from there with the start of drywall and all other finish work like tile, floors, paint, kitchen cabinets, doors, and much more.
